With over 14 years of experience, we will share with you our suggestions and observations.
It's our business to guide you with your decisions and to provide you with the best possible product.
Listed below are guidelines for various types, character, and necessary information
to make customer's metal badge & emblematic products :
--Production Methods, optional variety : (Metal Badge/emblem Production Methods)
-A. Cloisonné (hard enamel) :
Fully fed cloisonné color onto stamped (die-struck) deep (recessed) areas. Cloisonné is fired to hard glass class;
and whole front
is polished to offer a smooth and luster surface.
Hard enamel colors available are only about 150 colors according to specialty standard color swatches.
-B. Imitation cloisonné (fake enamel) :
Fully filled enamels onto stamped (die-struck) deep (recessed) areas. Whole front polished. Similar looking to cloisonné.
Such fake enamel is baked, less hardness and less luster than cloisonné. However fake enamel colors could be
corresponding to almost all PMS colors as Pantone swatches showing (over 1,000 colors).
-C. Stamped copper (or brass) soft enamel :
Soft enamel colors filled into stamped (die-struck) deep (recessed) areas. Compared to imitation cloisonné , the soft enamel
filling is thinner and much recessed in deep areas. Slightly less hardness than imitation cloisonné.
-D. Stamped iron soft enamel :
Same method as stamped copper soft enamel. Using more economic metal - iron instead of copper or brass.
-E. Etched soft enamel :
Each design is etched into brass using a photo acid process. Such etched deep (recessed) areas could only be about 0.1mm
deep for filling enamel colors. While stamped deep (recessed) areas are as deep as 0.2 or 0.3 mm.
Compared to cloisonné,imitation cloisonné, and stamped enamel copper/brass, the advantage to etched badge/emblem is
that process is less expensive, etched metal lighter in weight, and plated metal surface looks neater.
-F. Cast alloy :
Designs of 3 dimensional (3-D relief) would need casting (injection) rather than stamping or etching.
- Lead & tin alloy: using economic soft mould. It suits for simple 3-D design without thin or slim parts..
- Zinc alloy: needs steel mould which is more costly than soft mould. It suits for 3-D relief designs with more cut-outs or holes.
-G. Printing :
The most economic for large volume production. A great piece for orders requiring a quick ship date.
- Silk screen printing (laser print): the best to reproduce for complicated/multiple color designs. And for those with color details
on where you don't want metal border lines separated in between, whether or not .
- Offset printing : the method to replicate photo imaging (mixed colors, gradients and shading) using CMYK process..
-- Special Finishing & Plating, optional: adopted best with above C. stamped copper items.
- Sanding-mat (Sandblast): Sanding on stamped metal to get matte metal surface. And the raised metal areas can be
polished, then the polished shiny raised areas make a perfect contrast to the matte background.
- Stippling or texture molded: stamping mould can be stippled or textured to get stamped design with stippling or texture.
- Matte plating: Getting matte (frosted) effect, rather than shinny plated looking as usual.
- Bi-plating (two tone plating): both Gold and Nickel plating on same piece to get contrast plating effect.
- Antique finishing: Brushing on antique plated darkish gold/brass/copper/silver/nickel surface to get an antique shadow
effect giving the appearance of an aged piece.
-- Regular Metals & Precious metal, optional :
- Regular metals: - Stamping jobs use copper or brass or the economical iron.
- Etching mainly used brass.
- Printings regularly use brass, or steel, or the light weight and economic aluminum.
- Precious metal: Sterling silver with thick gold or silver plated, offer the ultimate treasure level. Each is well stamped
and finely finished.
-- Attachments, optional : (various standard fittings)
Attachment to fit emblems such as spur nail + butterfly clutch for lapel pins; Or badge with brooch or stick pin (long needle).
Other fittings such as money clip, tie clip (tie bar), cuff links, zipper pull, and various key rings ....etc.
Attachment catalogue available for your selection :

-- Epoxy coating, optional :
Some customer like soft enameling badge/emblem coated with epoxy on top to protect and to provide a glossy look .
While some others prefer to leave soft enamel surfaces without epoxy.
Cloisonné and imitation cloisonné emblem need no any epoxy on top.
Printed badge/emblem regularly covered with epoxy to protect printed surfaces.
-- Size & Cut shape required :
It is up to your personal taste as to sizes and cut shapes of your badge/emblem.
-- Colors available :
- Cloisonné colors available are only about 150 colors according to specialty standard color swatches.
- Colors of imitation cloisonné, soft enamels, silk-screen printings could be matched to almost all Pantone swatches
(PMS colors, over 1,000 colors).
- Offset printing is CMYK process printed according to full-color photo imaging.
- Color variations may exist from each individual job due to possible difference in between varies of raw materials.
-- Artwork required :
a. For inquiries a rough sketch or picture with your idea is enough for us to quote with our professional suggestions.
b. For your order, we can promptly work from your good artwork as below :
- PC vector format (.eps,.ai,.cdr) is preferred. If you are sending vector art, please have all text converted to curves.
- Also acceptable are .JPG, .GIF, .BMP or .TIF formats with resolution over 200 dpi; and. at least 4 times larger
than
the size of the emblem.
c. In case you don't have any good digital files, we can take your design/photo on paper.
The larger size with the clearer the design/photo, the better the quality of your badge/emblem.
d. Practically etching and stamping 2-D designs (whether it needs with color fillings or without), a clear artwork in black & white
able to indicate following would be good enough :
- Black in sketch are areas to be raised/relief metals on badge/emblem.
- White in sketch are those to be deep/recessed metal for color fillings (or need no color filling).
If need colors, color designs can be sent in addition to the black & white designs, but we prefer you do not send color
designs alone.
e. For enamel color fillings, raised (relief) metal border lines is needed to separate different color fields.
Of course, printing jobs need no any raised metal border lines in between different color fields.
f. Cut shape sketch also needed to show outer shape and placement of the motif in the outer shape.
g. For 3-D items, please supply your artwork with front and side view.
-- Instead of artwork, we can also duplicate merely according to customer's real sample of existing badge/emblem.
So that you don't have to give us any artwork.
All our productions are strictly quality controlled in house.
Ours are Not crude articles as those from China subcontractors !
We always welcome your inquiries. Please feel free to tell us following :
